Syrian refugees in Jordan - stories behind the numbers

Article by Jan Royall, PES Vice-President

On September 29th I had the honor to be nominated PES Vice-President. For those who don’t yet know me, I have long been a member of the UK Labour Party and I have served several years as a member of the House of the Lords, where I am currently the leader of the opposition. Young people cannot find a job after finishing their studies, employees see their working conditions degrading and fear for their jobs, people that have worked for decades see their old days darkened by ever smaller pensions and parents worry for the future of their children.
It is in this context that last week European Prime Ministers and Heads of State gathered in Brussels to discuss the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework for 2014-2020.
