Neven Mimica

Neven Mimica was born on 12 October 1953, in Split, Croatia. He has a Masters degree from the Faculty of Economics - University of Zagreb.

During his career, Mr. Mimica has held several public positions, having served as Minister-Counsellor at the Embassy of Croatia in Cairo (1993-1996) and Plenipotentiary Minister at the Embassy of the Croatia in Ankara (1996-1997).

Neven Mimica was Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs (2000) and between 2000 and 2001 he acted as Chief negotiator on the Stabilisation and Association Agreement with the European Union. He served as Minister for European Integration (2001-2003) and after the general elections of 2003 he became the chairman of the European Integration Committee in the Croatian Parliament. He was re-elected to the Sabor (Croatian Parliament) in 2007 and between 2008 and 2011 he was the deputy speaker and chairman of the European Integration Committee.

Mr. Mimica is currently the Deputy Prime Minister for Home, Foreign and European Affairs in the government led by Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic (Social Democratic Party of Croatia).
