Said El-Khadraoui

Saïd El-Khadraoui was born on 9 April 1975 in Leuven, Belgium. He has a degree in modern history from the Catholic University of Louvain (1997).

After completing his studies, Mr. El-Khadraoui worked in the office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs. In 1999 he started working in the office of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for the Budget and later that year he became an official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (since 1999).

He is active in local politics, being a member of the Louvain City Council since 1994 and having served as Deputy Mayor of Louvain between 2001 and 2003.

Saïd El-Khadraoui is a member of the Socialistische Partij Anders (sp.a - Belgium) national party bureau; he is also the party’s international secretary since 2007.

A Member of the European Parliament since 2003, he is currently vice-chair of the delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries and a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism.
