Stefan Löfven

Stefan Löfven was born in 1957 in Stockholm, Sweden. He spent his childhood in Adalen, Angermanland.

Stefan Löfven started his career in 1976 working for the Post Office in Solleftea. From 1979 until 1995 he worked for Hägglunds (Combat Vehicles and All Terrain Vehicles Company) in Örnsköldsvik. In 1981 he joined the Swedish Metalworkers’ Union and in 2002 he became its vice president. He was IF Metall’s president from 1st of January 2006, an d amember of the European Metalworkers’ Executive Board. The same year, he was elected to the executive board of the Swedish Social Democratic Party.

On 27 January he was elected chairman of the Swedish Social Democratic Workers’ Party.
