Zlatko Lagumdžija

Zlatko Lagumdžija was born on 26 December 1955 in Sarajevo.

He finished a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering in the University of Sarajevo in 1988, having received the next year a postdoctoral Fulbright scholarship and research at MIS Department and CCIT in the University of Arizona, Tucson.

Zlatko Lagumdžija has been President of the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) since 1997 and has also been a member of the BiH Parliament since 1996. He has had a very active political career in BiH – acting Prime Minister in 1993, Minister of Foreign Affairs 2001-2003 and Chairman of Council of Ministers of BiH 2001-2002. Following the legislative elections of 2010, he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Zlatko Lagumdžija is also engaged at an international level. He was member of several International Missions and Commissions including the International Mission on the 1998 Pakistani elections, the first SI Mission of four former Prime ministers in post-Saddam Iraq in 2003. In 2004 Zlatko Lagumdžija also took part in the International Advisory Committee for the Congress of Democrats from the Islamic World and in the International Commission on the Balkans.
